''Border Collie''

It is believed the dog has evolved from a jackal-type creature that was totaly wild. After man domesticated thease wild dogs, they became hunting dogs and herding dogs, as time went on man chose the herding dogs for their domesticated livestock, so the herding dogs are where the 'Border Collie' originally came from, as they had a natural instinct to circle running birds and livestock.
The 'Border Collie' sheepdog is gifted with brains, ability, agility, beauty and a sence of humour. Training of a 'Border Collie' is a long but rewarding process. They can be used for herding sheep, sheepdog trials, agility, obediance, or just for a very loyal and faithful friend, as the saying goes ' Mans Best Friend' - or womens. There is nothing more amazing than watching a 'Border Collie' working sheep. The 'Border Collie' is nearly always very intelligent and usually good tempered. The training of the 'Border Collie' must be done sympethectially, if the 'Border Collie' missunderstands a command or excercise and is repremanded, if he is a sensitive character it could end up with him 'sulking'. Always put your self in their place and try to look at things through their eyes. Their lives compared with humans are relatively short, so should be sweet. Kindness, Patience,and common sense, will be rewarded with creating a trustworthy friend.
